Harewood (pronounced /ˈhɛə(r)wʊd/ "HAIR-wood") is a village on the northern outskirts of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The A61 runs through the village, from Leeds City Centre in the south to Harrogate in the north. The A659 runs through the village from Collingham to the east, briefly joining the A61 to descend the slopes of the Wharfe valley before continuing towards Pool-in-Wharfedale.
The village is mainly known for its vicinity to Harewood House (pronounced HAR-wood), a stately home, and home to the Harewood Hillclimb. Near Harewood House, there is a little primary school, Harewood C of E primary school. it is very small, but has had good results. In 2004, their Ofsted report was Outstanding and the school was well complemented by the inspector too.
The exterior set for the soap opera Emmerdale is located within the Harewood estate.[1]
