Harakas is a village in the municipality of Asterousia in [[Heraklion , Greece prefecture]] with about 1000 habitants. Heraklion,which is the largest city of Crete, is about 45 km to the north . The village lies to the foothill of Asterousia mountain, the south line of the Crete island. Behind the mountain and after 15 km from Harakas is the Libyan Sea. The more characteristic showplace is a great rock (haraki), 35m high, with a temple and a castle.Also in the front of Haraki ,the Heroon a monument of warriors and the church of St Panteleymon with a great campanile
