Haq Nawaz Jhangvi

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Haq Nawaz Jhangvi (حق نواز جهنگوی , also also referred to by the title Maulana) was a controversial Pakistani cleric, who founded the militant organization Sipah-e-Sahaba in the 1980s. [1]

Jhangvi was killed in a retaliatory bomb attack by Shia militants on 23 February, 1990. [2] Former Sipah-e-Sahaba member Riaz Basra named his own neo-Wahabi organization, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, after the slain cleric.[3]
