This is a documentation subpage for Template:Hangon (see that page for the template itself).
It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

Usage

Place {{Hangon}} on the page that is tagged for speedy deletion, and immediately give a reason on the associated talk page. Don't remove the speedy tag when doing it.

In almost every circumstance, this template should not be placed on a talk page.

This template will add the page to Category:Contested candidates for speedy deletion.

Don't use this template on any page which doesn't have a speedy deletion tag.

This template can also be used with a parameter, like this: {{hangon|reason}} produces:

The speedy deletion of this page is contested.

Reason: reason

Note that this request is not binding, and the page may still be deleted if the page unquestionably meets the speedy deletion criteria, or if the given explanation is unacceptable. This template should not be removed from a page still marked with a speedy deletion template.
