Maharaja Hanuwant Singh was an Indian prince. The film Zubeida was based on his life story.
He was married to a princess by name of Mandira Devi. He was fond of horses and horse racing, planes and helicopters. He used to go to Bombay (Mumbai) for the same. There he met Zubeida who was a daughter of Suleman Patel, a B grade film maker cum businessman. Zubeida had worked in alot of movies like Alam Ara, the first Hindi talkie. She was an impressive actress, and had good features. Though she was a bit loud due to inexperience to hold mike, she was wonderful performer, and amazed everyone with her talent. Prince Hanuwant Singh married her against the wishes of the royal family, leaving the Umaid Bhawan, Jodhpur Royal family's residence. She gave birth to 'Tutu' alias 'Hukum Singh'. But three of them could not survive. Zubeida and Hanuwant Singh died in a plane crash. Whereas Tutu was surprizingly then grown up under Rajmata Mandira Devi's care. But after a few years, Tutu was also killed, ruthlessly and his dead body was found in the streets of Jodhpur. Now only the first son of Zubeida survives, born out of her first mariage.
