When Death Piggy donned costumes and began performing as GWAR, drummer Jim Thompson took the stage as Hans Sphincter. According to early cartoons, Hans had a brother named Stephen Sphincter and they were artistic types until their violent brethren arrived. Thompson played a handful of shows in the early days as Hans Sphincter, and later changed the character's name to Hans Orifice.
