Hans Gløersen

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans Andreas Tandberg Gløersen (1836, Nord-Aurdal – 1904) was a Norwegian forest manager and lawyer.

Gløersen has been credited for launching the ideas of the railways Jærbanen at a public meeting in 1866, and Vossebanen trough a letter to the editor in Bergensposten. In both cases he provided detailed suggestions for the route, ideas that to a great extent were followed when the lines were constructed.[1]

He gained a law degree in 1858, followed by a degree in forestry at Hessen in 1860; he was appointed forest manager for Søndre Bergenshus Amt the same year. After his wife died in 1894 he moved to Kristiania.[1]
