Where do you get the connection between the dance and the Selkirk succession from? This topic was recently discussed on the Strathspey mailing list, and the general consensus was that the idea mentioned here was rather far-fetched. George S. Emmerson, in »Scotland through her Country Dances« (Galt House, 1981), treats the dance at some length and does not mention the succession issue at all. Anselm 23:34, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
