Halsnøy is a small island located near Stord in the county of Hordaland, Norway. It has c. 2,500 inhabitants[citation needed], and is 38 square kilometres in area.
It consists of Sæbøvik, the only remaining official village in Norway, Høylandsbygd, one of Western Norway's shipping capitals, in addition to several other residential zones.
It was notable historically as the site of Halsnøy Abbey (dissolved in 1536), once one of the richest monasteries in Norway.
