[edit] False Article
I think this whole page should be tossed in the nearest trash can, because the name of the "Canaanite" god is هدد or هداد with an H. Whereas the name so many people carry is حداد with a different letter.
This name means "smith" just like how gazillions of people in Levant carry names meaning baker, carpenter, and all kinds of proffesions.
Most of the people carrying this name happen to be of Ghassanide Arab ancestry (according to themselves not me), and Ghassanides had a whole tribe named "smiths" حدادين so it is not a surprise that this name be common amongst them.
Also, it is a common knowledge that in classical Islamic society, non-Muslims worked in smithery more than Muslims, because Arabs had a cultural issue with this sort of work and always regarded it with contempt; even Mohammad himself spoke of smething of this kind. So this is the reason why non-Muslims carry this name more Muslims.
In all languages, Ugaritic, Canaanite, and Aramaic the name was spelled هداد not حداد . This page is just one myth created in the modern times. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.178.224.163 (talk) 22:01, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
