Hady Amr

Hady Amr is a thought leader in U.S. relations with the Muslim World and an expert in the Arab-Israeli conflict, Lebanon, Jordan, and the economic and social development of the Arab World.

He is a Fellow in Foreign Policy Studies at the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution and Director of the Brookings Doha Center in Qatar, where he co-organizes the annual U.S.-Islamic World Forum. He served as a presidential appointee at the U.S. Department of Defense, helping launch the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies at National Defense University, and since 2001 has managed an independent consulting practice, the Amr Group. He also served as the founding Executive Director of World Links Arab Region building a board including Queen Rania of Jordan and Elaine Wolfensohn of the World Bank, as Senior Advisor to the World Economic Forum on Islamic-Western relations.

Mr. Amr is the author of numerous publications including “The Need to Communicate: How to Improve U.S. Public Diplomacy with the Islamic World” published by Brookings. He has also been published by Newsweek¸ The Washington Post, and the International Herald Tribune. Formerly serving as an economist and a consultant to the World Bank and the U.N., he has authored several United Nations reports such as “The State of the Arab Child.” In 1994, he earned a Masters in Economics and Public and International Affairs from Princeton University.
