Gwythr ap Greidawl

In Welsh mythology, Gwythr ap Greiddawl was a rival of Gwyn ap Nudd, a god (male deity) connected with the otherworld. In the early medieval prose tale Culhwch ac Olwen, they fight over a maiden named Creiddylad, who elopes with Gwythr but is subjected to kidnapping by Gwyn. Their rivalry has been taken to represent the contest between summer and winter.
