[edit] Surname

In Greek, the word avrakotos is a masculine adjective meaning without underpants. I once met a young Greek-American woman who told me her grandfather's surname was recorded as Boulis (mama's boy) when he entered the U.S.; apparently, he was being heckled by other Greek immigrants travelling with him and for some reason, an immigration official took this to be his surname. Perhaps something similar happened to Mr. Avrakotos's father. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.23.134.113 (talk) 06:21, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
