[edit] Rebecca Curci

I don't know about that - but personally I think it should be AFD'd. I'll bring it up at WP:PW, though. Davnel03 15:01, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Displaying template code without using the actual template on a page.

I see you had some trouble with this earlier. In order to do this, you have to put "tl|" in front of the actual template name, before the "{{". So instead of just copying {{db-author}} to a talk page, you would use the code {{tl|db-author}} - make sense? Cirt (talk) 09:31, 8 January 2008 (UTC).

  • Similarly, for an image link on a talk page, place a colon before after the "[[", so it would be like this: [[:Image:SPJ logo.jpg]] - okay? Cirt (talk) 09:33, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
    • Okay, hey I don't need to be taught how to use Wikipedia. We all make mistakes, but you are treating me like a newbie and I do NOT appreciate it. This feels like bureaucracy. Guroadrunner (talk) 09:34, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
      • Hey, my apologies, I was just trying to be helpful, sorry. I saw you make a similar mistake multiple times on talk pages, and thought that you did not know about the above coding. I only thought you did not know how to do that stuff. Cirt (talk) 09:36, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
  • If you did not need the coding advice, why did you DIFF place the {{db-author}} tag again yet another time on my talk page, without using "tl", so that the actual tag placed a notice to have my talk page deleted? Perhaps you did need the advice and did not know about this coding error? It would be helpful in the future if you assumed good faith, when others try to give you advice, and don't react so harshly and hurtful back to them. Cirt (talk) 09:39, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
    • For the record, again: I was not trying to treat you like a "newbie" with the above messages. It would have appeared to anyone else looking that saw your edits to my talk page and placing a notice on my talk page numerous times with a tag to delete my talk page, as well as placing images as opposed to links to images on talk pages, that you did not know about the coding. I assumed you could use the advice, I was not trying to be patronizing. I apologize that you felt that way, but just take it as an honest mistake, instead of interpreting something out of what I truly meant to be helpful comments. Cirt (talk) 09:42, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
  • Thanks for the apology, much appreciated. On a lighter note, I'll upload an image of the logo and let you know. Cirt (talk) 09:44, 8 January 2008 (UTC).

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Spj logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Spj logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Cirt (talk) 05:51, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

  • I re-added the tag. The image is being used on a portal page inappropriately. Please see Portal:Journalism/Selected quote/66. Cirt (talk) 08:43, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
    • I have asked for some input from someone very experienced in these sorts of things, Betacommand (talk · contribs). Cirt (talk) 08:48, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
      • Society of Professional Journalists logo, cropped from a photo of a "welcome journalists" sign at the Region 10 SPJ conference, Kennewick, WA, March 2006 -- If this is the case, why not just upload the entire "welcome journalists" sign to WikiCommons instead, and just use the larger whole image in the SJP article? If, as you say, you are the author of that particular image, and the logo is only a small part of the larger image, it may be acceptable at Wikimedia Commons. Cirt (talk) 08:56, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
        • I will wait for further input from Betacommand (talk · contribs) on this. As the image page currently stands, the tag should be re-added. Why don't you take my advice from my previous comment, above? Cirt (talk) 08:58, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
          • We also have no way of verifying that you actually took this image, that it was part of a larger image as you say, unless you actually provide a very high resolution version of the larger, whole image. Cirt (talk) 09:00, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
            • Let's wait for input from Betacommand (talk · contribs). Yes, I am contesting the fair-use in both the article-space and portal-space, for many reasons already stated. Cirt (talk) 09:02, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
  • Your name of Image:SPJ logo 2 for cirt.jpg with "for cirt" at the end is inappropriate. I request that you tag the image for deletion with {{db-author}}, and re-upload it with a more appropriate name, like simply, "SPJ logo 2". Thanks. Cirt (talk) 09:13, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
    • Doing as I request, and deleting the image you uploaded and uploading it with a different name that does not refer to "for cirt" in the image title, would be a good Show of Good Faith. Everything that I have said so far has been in-line with current policies. I'd appreciate it if you would respect that, I am not trying to "badger" you, I'd simply like to hear some more input from Betacommand (talk · contribs). Cirt (talk) 09:20, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
      • The best solution at this point in my opinion would be for you to tag both images with {{db-author}}, and use an image instead with a verifiable hyperlink from an external site, like [1], or [2]. If you want, after those two images are deleted I can even upload an image from one of those sites myself, and also add a good detailed fair use rationale. Cirt (talk) 09:27, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
        • You forgot to add the actual {{db-author}} tag to the other image, Image:SPJ logo 2 for cirt.jpg. Cirt (talk) 09:32, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
          • Not really, in this particular case it would be best if you placed the {{db-author}} tag at Image:SPJ logo 2 for cirt.jpg, that way the deleting Admin knows that the original uploader placed the delete tag. Cirt (talk) 09:35, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
  • I added a different image to Society of Professional Journalists, there is a detailed fair-use rationale on the image page, specifically for use in that particular article. I also added an infobox to the article, feel free to fill in the missing fields. Cirt (talk) 10:03, 8 January 2008 (UTC).
