Gul is a family or personal name, particularly in Central and South Asia. As a personal name it may be given to males and females.
"Gul." is also a common abbreviation for William (derived from Guillaume), especially on coats of arms, as for example in the inscription "Gul. White, Ebor" for William White (1744-1790) of York.[citation needed]
