[edit] Guitar Hero 3 controller for PlayStation 2 is different to others

I feel that it should be noted that the Guitar Hero 3 controller for PlayStation 2 is a Kramer Striker guitar replica instead of a Gibson Les Paul replica as is the case for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii. Given that the Gibson Les Paul and the Kramer Striker are totally different, it should be noted that the controllers are different. [edit] Getting to a Guitar Hero featured topic

Given that we have presently 3 GAs (GHII, GH80s, GHIII) and can likely get the series (this page) and the first game up to spec, I think we should consider if there's a possibility of making the Guitar Hero article series a featured topic, including the song lists. I am putting the first game's song list article up at peer review to see if there's a possibility of it qualifying as a featured list, which would help to promote the rest of the articles towards a larger featured topic. --MASEM 17:40, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

I've gotten feedback on a peer review for the GH1 song list and it loks like there's potential for this list to go to a Featured List (thus likely for the other song lists). A few things to correct, but otherwise this is a helpful step. --MASEM 15:55, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Gibson Patent Challenge

A patent challenge from Gibson Guitar, Inc. was revealed by Activision in March 2008. I cleaned up the section as it existed when I found it. 24.185.110.146 (talk) 03:07, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Star Power redirect

Star Power should not redirect here. It is far too generic a phrase and can be meant as Star power or StarPower, which both link elsewhere. It's far too ambiguous to point to Guitar Hero. Besides, there are no links to Star Power, so we are pretty thinking anybody who types in "Star Power" into the search box means to come here. Far better to point it to the disambiguation page (Star power) and have them decide at that point what they want to see. Bssc81 (talk) 05:46, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Be on watch for GH: The Beatles

An exec of the company that owns the rights on the Beatles works has recently stated that he'd like to help bring a Beatles-themed GH game to the market. This is not any validation that the supposeded "Guitar Hero: The Beatles" exists. People have been adding this without any other source, so while the mention of this desire to create one is worthwhile to not, keep an eye out for those adding the game way too prematurely. --MASEM 22:15, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Guitar Hero: On Tour

I found a trailer! Here!--Ice66Breaker 20:21, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

At least we now know what the website for the game is. I have added it to the article's external links section. Lightsup55 ( T | C ) 20:31, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
With the trailer, pictures, and more information about the game starting to come about, do you think it's time that it gets its own dedicated article? TeamOverload (talk) 20:39, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and filled out the article for it (thank you Jeux France for non-watermarked images!), no more redirect. --MASEM 20:58, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Chords

Notes can be a single note, or composed of two to four notes (a chord).

this website says there will ba a song by Aerosmtih on GH4. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.244.187.103 (talk) 22:22, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

That looks more like a wishlist, as opposed to anything legit. --MASEM 22:24, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] GAN on hold

  • "the 1960s to the present" - "present", not "the present", is fine
  • The first ref in the lead isn't really necessary
  • "earning over $1 billion" - what currency?
  • Please move free images to Commons, if possible
  • "Instead, developing would go to Neversoft" - how was Neversoft chosen?
  • "Billboard announced" - magazine titles go in italcis
  • "r Hero game for the Nintendo DS" - you don't need to wlink the DS every time you mention it
  • "Screenshot of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock during "Battle Mode"." - other image captions didn't contain wlinks; be consistent
  • "and a rating from three to five stars, depending on his/her overall performance." - you sure it's not from 1 to 5?
  • Check italics for newspapers in ref publishers
  • "Bang Camaro's popularity increased after their song "Push Push (Lady Lightning)" appeared in Guitar Hero II." - any others, or were they the only ones who did so?
  • "and some players complain of problems with latency." - ref?
  • "On 17 March 2008, Gibson sued six retailers — " - you can't have spaces around an em dash (per WP:DASH)...maybe use a semi colon; a dash here isn't that appropriate...
  • "Subsequently, on 21 March 2008, Gibson has also" - remove the "has"
  • "spokesperson has stated " - same again

Leave me a note when done. Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 06:31, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

    • done Gary King (talk) 07:02, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
    • On the Bang Camero thing, they're the only indie group to have their popularity improved due to being a GH band that can be sourced; other licensed groups have also been show to have improvements as mentioned around that point. --MASEM 14:27, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
      • Alright, thanks for readding it. I didn't know that about them, but your updated wording clarifies this point. Gary King (talk) 19:06, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
        • OK, passed, everything looks good here. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 08:11, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
          • Thanks very much! Gary King (talk) 08:24, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
            • Regarding the star ratings, it is not possible to score less than a three star rating in the games. The statement is accurate as written. Just FYI. =) QaeadarDAzeal (talk) 06:28, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Getting the GA series to an FT

We are close to having enough articles to qualify at a Featured Topic:

I am discounting Aerosmith, On Tour, and GH4 for now (explain in a bit). For an FT, you need about 20% or more of the articles at FA/FL (with 80s songlist, that gives us 4 of 11, or about 35%, and I would get GH3's list up to FL before doing an FT, making it 5 of 11 or 45%). We also need each article that can be at GA or FA, and for those that can't (both Mobile and Carabiner), at least performing a peer review. Thus, all we need to do is spiffy up Mobile and Carabener and get those PR'd while I help bring 80s and GH3's lists through FL to get to being a FT.

As for Aerosmith, On Tour, and GH4, I asked the FTC page on this, and they suggested that its fine not to include those, but once the games are out, those articles are expected to get to GA-minimum quality within 3 months of release and then the FT re-evaluated to add them into the topic. We've been doing good on tracking Aerosmith and On Tour's development stuff, so I doubt this will be a problem.

Anyone up for tackling Mobile and Carabiner to get these to spec? --MASEM 15:56, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Also, it would be nice if someone with graphic skillz could make an SVG graphic of the guitar controller (w/ the 5 colored buttons plainly obvious) to go along with it. :) --MASEM 15:58, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] GHIV Article created

While it's been a redirect until now, there's enough information coming out now to fairly give a full Guitar Hero IV article, so we should consider if bits and pieces can be moved to there if needed. --MASEM 00:01, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Since when was Avenged Sevenfold going to be in GH World Tour?

It says that Avenged Sevenfold is in the list of confirmed bands for GHWT. Since when was this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by KillingIsMyBusiness502 (talkcontribs) 19:42, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Should Cultural impact and In popular culture be moved to a new page?

Should the sections Cultural impact and In popular culture be moved to a new page? I think it would be a good time to do it since these sections keep growing with cruft. --8bitJake (talk) 19:19, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

I think we just need to keep the cruft down. There's no major size issues yet with the page, and as long as we keep it to notable appearances as are listed presently (I just did some edits) it should be fine; at worst if there's many more that are added, we can swap out less notable ones (eg, if it's used on multiple talk shows, we can replace the Ellen D. mention with a common phrase). --MASEM 19:23, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
