The JL-9 FTC2000 Mountain Eagle (Shan Ying) is a 2-seat fighter trainer being developed by the Guizhou Aircraft Industry Corporation for the People's Liberation Army Air Force.
It is based on the Chengdu J-7 fighter, itself based on the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 U variant. Design began in 2001, and its first flight in 2003.
