The District of Guarda (pron. IPA: ['gwaɾdɐ]) is located in the Centro (Center) of Portugal, except Vila Nova de Foz Coa, which is in the Norte (North) Region. The District Capital and most populous city is the city of Guarda.
The district is contains 14 municipalities:
- Aguiar da Beira
- Almeida
- Celorico da Beira
- Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo
- Fornos de Algodres
- Gouveia
- Guarda
- Manteigas
- Mêda
- Pinhel
- Sabugal
- Seia
- Trancoso
- Vila Nova de Foz Côa
All the above municipalities are located in Centro Region, except Vila Nova de Foz Coa, which belongs to Norte Region. Cities in the Guarda district: Gouveia, Guarda, Meda, Pinhel, Sabugal, Seia, Trancoso and Vila Nova de Foz Coa. Sub regions within the district: Beira Interior Norte, Serra da Estrela, Douro and Dao-Lafoes.
