[edit] KDE4 reference

I removed the reference to KDE 4, since KDE 4 seems to not depend on Gstreamer

I'll accept the removal as unsourced, but KDE4's libs are still in development so it could do. 84.64.119.75 16:12, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

--195.10.6.237 14:28, 18 May 2007 (UTC) The full name of Fluendo is indeed Fluendo S.A. since circa June 2006, even though the website points to the opposite.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Gstreamer-logo.png

Image:Gstreamer-logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:40, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Portal:Free software: GStreamer is now the selected article

Just to let you know. The purpose of selecting an article is both to point readers to the article and to highlight it to potential contributors. It will remain on the portal for a week or so. The previous selected article was Cygwin - a system that makes MS Windows as GNU-like as possible.

For other interesting free software articles, you can take a look at the archive of PF's selectees. --Gronky (talk) 14:52, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Things moved on, as usual, and the new selectee is OpenBSD security features. That's a quite-complete article that I hadn't seen before on some of the crypto and configuration enhancements that OpenBSD makes compared to other operating systems. --Gronky (talk) 08:25, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Criticism

The ABI of GStreamer is stable. The 0.8 and 0.10 series are parallel installable and the development team runs tests to ensure ABI stability. I would like to see the critism section as it is being removed. Ensonic (talk) 11:32, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I removed the section. The KDE design decission for phonon has nothing to do with GStreamer stability. The paragraph about KDE and ARTS is imho totaly irrelevant for this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.133.111.163 (talk) 13:44, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
