Talk:Group of Eight (Australian universities)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Keeping in line with the Ivy League page, has anyone ever thought to put the crests or logos of the 8 universities on this page? Thank you.

- As on Ivy League, doesn't this constitute a derivative work of copyrighted materials, making it illegal under most nations' copyright law? If so, the image should be replaced with a gallery of the various individual shields, as was done on the Ivy League page. --Beeblebrox87 11:14, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC) Done. [edit] Sandstone Unis?
The description of Sandstone universities as those established prior to 1950, and then the exclusion of UNSW (established in 1949) from this group seems inconsistent. Perhaps a less specific definition of the term is required? Withoutaface 1 July 2005 18:27 (UTC)
there appears to be a contradiction on this page excluding ANU as a sandstone uni whereas the sandston uni page itself includes ANUMrmisanthrope 07:52, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Ivy League Comparison
In what sense is the Go8 analogous to the American Ivy League? The Go8 universities are nowhere near as prestigious, selective, or wealthy as their Ivy League counterparts. They are mass education providers, and as unremarkable as the other 32 Australian universities. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robert Brockway (talk • contribs) 07:29, 14 July 2007
Yea, there's no comparison. Ivy league is for sporting blockheads who only know how to move the muscles in their arms and legs. Go8 actually contribute research and ideas that benefit society. Sorry, when people say crap like the above, i can only be badly critical about Ivy league for example, and im not afraid to sign my comments --Vylen (talk) 15:58, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Expansion
This page obviously needs an expansion, but I haven't a clue on what needs to be said. Comparisons with the Ivy League aren't that helpful, as that is League specific. Anyways, I've created a table of member universities that I don't think is appropriate at this time. However, when the page is longer, feel free to return it to the article, in place of that haphazard list. --Cyberjunkie 14:55, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)

- I've put the table back in (with 2 edits for consistency). It looks good in the article IMHO. Robertbrockway 17:50, May 19 2005 (UTC)
[edit] The list of Sheilds
I spelled the names out for consistency. It'd be nice if the names could be centered under the shields - is this possible? Robertbrockway 17:44, May 19 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Groupofeightaustralianuniversities.png
Image:Groupofeightaustralianuniversities.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
