Groupement d'Intérêt Economique

A GIE is an abbreviation of the French, Groupement d'Intérêt Economique (economic interest group)
It is a grouping of companies whose aim is to facilitate or develop the economic activity of its members. The GIE in itself does not seek to make a profit.
It is a legally recognised entity and is registered in the RCS (Registre du Commerce et des Sociétés), register of companies.
