Gritty McDuff's Brewing Company is a microbrewery with locations in Portland, Freeport and Auburn, Maine.
Gritty's began as a brewpub in Portland, originally founded in 1988. In 1995, a second location with a larger microbrewery facility was opened in Freeport. A third brewpub was opened in Auburn in 2005.
Gritty's has created much discussion with its "over the line" approach to radio and TV advertising. These outrageously humorous and edgy spots, conceived and produced by the Maine creative agency Mega Global Media, spoof subject matter from politics and religion to terrorism.
