Griotte-Chambertin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Griotte-Chambertin is a grand cru vineyard in the Côte de Nuits located near the town of Gevrey-Chambertin. The vineyard is known primarily for its Pinot noir production.[1] Situated on the lower hillside near the grand crus of Chapelle-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin, the vineyard encompasses 6.7 acres (2.7 ha) and derives it name from the grill pan shape that the rows of vines imitate.[2]Appellation d'origine contrôlée requirements include a minimum alcohol percent by volume of 11.5% and harvest yields of no more than 37 hl/ha.[3] The smallest grand cru in Gevrey-Chambertin, wines from this vineyard are typically deep colored with soft fruitiness and velvet textures. The wines are expected to hit their peak in 10-20 years.[4]
