Griffith Rutherford

Griffith Rutherford (born c. 1721 in Ireland - died 10 August 1805, probably in Sumner County, Tennessee) was an officer in the American Revolutionary War, a political leader in North Carolina, and a key figure in the early history of Tennessee.

Rutherfordton, Rutherford County, North Carolina, and Rutherford County, Tennessee were all named for him.
