re: wrongtitle

It's not really all that useful, and you could consider the removal of the excessive verbiage a cleanup :) --Joy [shallot] 23:06, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)

The analogy is okay, but it's flawed due to the context - we're not talking about code here, we're talking about organizing information in an encyclopedia entry. Small diacritical marks in the spelling of a name are not information that needs to be in front of everything else in the article - the most important thing about a person is what they did and why they may matter to the reader, now the fact that we can't spell their name exactly right. --Joy [shallot] 11:17, 3 Feb 2005 (UTC)

VSL "minor edit"

hi GregorB,

i would suggest that you might not check the "This is a minor edit" box when you are adding content to an article. i think "minor edits" are for correcting spelling, grammar, and typographical errors. some Wikipedians have an option on their Watchlist to not display minor edits (because they only want to know if there is a substantive change of content) and only registered wikipedians can check that box when they edit, so there's a little matter of trust there.

also, i might recommend checking out both the Duff and Duff, Okun, & Veneziano papers. i think there is a much more fundamental reason for why a change in c \ , \hbar \ , G \ , and \epsilon_0 \ , is not detectable by us mortals. a change in any dimensionful quantity, in and of itself, is not detectable except measured against another like dimensioned quantity.

Hi Rbj,
As far as I can tell, I've made two edits to the VSL article, both of them fairly minor, limited to spelling and formatting. I don't remember having changed (let alone added) the content, so I believe this is some kind of misunderstanding... GregorB 07:47, Apr 6, 2005 (UTC)

okay, according to the diff function in the article history, it appeared that you added an entire section of content. so i did misunderstand, but i wonder how come it looks like that. r b-j 00:35, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Could you reconsider your delete vote? I've rewritten the article. RickK 05:22, May 29, 2005 (UTC)

As of 2005

I have a question about your recent edit of List of particles. Is there a general wikipedia policy of adding the words "as of 2005" to statements that are currently true, but could change? It seems a bit silly, in this case, because if any of the hypothetical particles were discovered, it would be big news and updated extremely quickly. -- SCZenz 21:16, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

It's even sillier in String Theory, as it seems to imply it's possible that it might be verified next year. The theoretical physicists I know all seem to be in agreement that testing a new theory of physics to the point where it's demonstrably string theory simply cannot be done in the forseeable future. But I guess it's not wrong... ;)

Thanks!

Thanks for your edits to Heim theory! I was delighted to see someone new come by and make a few edits. May I ask how you came across that page? --HappyCamper 22:17, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

Oblique projection

Hi GregorB. Since you added the context tag to Oblique projection, you seem like the right person to ask whether the article has enough context now for that tag's removal. Does it still need more context or do you think it's OK now? The Rod 17:13, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

lowercase template

GregorB, I appreciate your switching of the Counter-Strike map articles (e.g. cs_italy) to the lowercase template, but lowercase is not the only problem with the title, nor is it the main one (They also require underscores). For now I'm going to revert them back to wrongtitle. Thanks. Varco 20:41, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
