Grendel Alvarado a 22 year old student from Bacolod and now a fashion model was named after winning the first cycle of Philippines' Next Top Model a local franchise of Tyra Banks top model search America's Next Top Model after making it to the finals with Rina Lorilla. Her prize was a Php 150,000 contract, a modeling contract with Saga Events and modeling representation courtesy of Starz People, Hong Kong and a six-page fashion editorial for Preview Magazine.

Grendel is the eldest of the two children of Robert and Aleth Alvarado of Bacolod City. Grendel is a third year nursing student at the University of St. La Salle. She went to Manila in 2007 for the Top Model contest. She looks up to Gisele Bündchen as her favorite model because of her pretty face, great body, and graceful and glamorous poise.

Alvarado's prizes as the winner include a one-year deal with model agency Saga Events and Starz People HK, a contract of Jewelmer’s Pearl Ambassador to the World, an international photo shoot, a six-page fashion feature in Preview Magazine (June 2007 issue), her first magazine shoot again for Preview (September 2007) and the most recent is for Cosmopolitan Philippines (January 2008).

Currently Grendel is doing her job as the next Top Model in the Philippine modelling industry.
