Green Gartside (born Paul Julian Strohmeyer, 22 June 1955, Cardiff, Wales), is the primary force behind Scritti Politti, a band best known for their work in the 1980s, but who have recently enjoyed a renaissance through the 2006 released album, White Bread, Black Beer.
Gartside is regarded as being an intellectual pop songwriter with interests ranging from philosophy (deconstruction and marxism) to hip hop. He has worked with Miles Davis, Chaka Khan, Eurythmics, Elvis Costello and Kylie Minogue among others.
