The Green Canyon area is a region in the Gulf of Mexico that is rich in oil fields. Many oil companies, including Shell, Exxon Mobil, ATP Oil and Gas, Devon Energy, W&T Offshore and Anadarko have leased the rights to drill for oil in this area.
