Great White Hope

Great White Hope may refer to:
- James J. Jeffries (1875-1953), a white boxer who came out of retirement to try to dethrone the first black heavyweight boxing champion, Jack Johnson. It also referred to any other white boxer initially recruited to fight Johnson.
- The Great White Hope, a play (1967) and film (1970) about Jack Johnson, the first African American to win the world heavyweight championship in boxing (Johnson was renamed Jack Jefferson in both the film and the play.)
- certain white cricket players, notably Robin Smith (cricketer), Allan Lamb and Graeme Hick, who emigrated from southern Africa to attempt to qualify for the English team
- nickname of white rapper Eminem
