Great Scott is a live music venue in Allston, Massachusetts USA. It is located at 1222 Commonwealth Avenue at the corner of Harvard Avenue. The venue is currently home to a wide range of live acts with a focus on live indie/rock and DJ based dance nights.
Owner Frank Strenk bought the club, then called Brandy's, in 1976. Always a home for live music, it became solidly established on the local indie-rock circuit when Carl Lavin (who started The Plan) took over the full-time booking in July 2004 and Ben Sisto (of Honeypump) the promotion shortly thereafter. Current residencies include The Pill (Fridays) a legendary long-running dance night for Anglophiles and The Plan (Saturdays) Boston's only weekly indie rock showcase.
The Fenway Recordings Sessions at Great Scott have brought a series of internationally recognized acts to the club and has featured a number of US debuts by bands who have gone on to much greater fame.
