Great Salt Anomaly

It has to do with thermohaline circulation and its effect on regulating the temperature in the North Atlantic. In the 1970s it had the effect of cooling the North Atlantic Ocean, caused problems with the cod populations around the Faroe Islands. These salt anomaly has a profound effect on the salinity of water because it reduces the salinity of the water. The water in the passage of the salt anomaly is usually fresher and extends to over 200 but less than 500 metre deep, depending on the the size Iceberg floating above. It has a biological consequences on marine organism, it accounted for a change in spawning period for many fish, it caused great like migration for many fish species, thus depriving fish eating bird of their food.
