Grammarmonger

A newly-registered Wiki editor, I am actually just an old editor with a new moniker. Many of you have seen some of my many minor edits made before I registered.

As an extremely busy university teacher and editor of scientific research articles for publication in major journals, one might wonder why I spend so much time editing strangers' articles for free, especially knowing that any effort is bound to be temporary here. I suppose it is an inertial effect due to daily editing overwork. I can no longer read anything without simultaneous mental rewriting, and when constantly confronted with such poorly-written work as the CNN and BBC News throw in our faces, the urge to improve written wording and attempt to preserve a modicum of grammatic decency in the public domain becomes almost irresistible. Wikipedia provides a soothing outlet for this pent-up desire.

I was recently surprised with the award below, and display it with pride!
