Graveyard BBQ is a dirtcore band formed in Waltham Massachusetts in summer 2003. They quickly rose to fame when they took victory in the "Be a Guitar Hero" national contest, and thus their song "Cheat on the Church" was featured in the soundtrack of the PlayStation 2 game Guitar Hero. Previously they had gained some popularity after being chosen by WAAF to appear on their Miss Mantown DVD in 2006 with their songs "BBQ Nation" and "BBQ Girl", both from their debut album Graveyard BBQ Greatest Hits Volume One, which was released in 2005. Since then they have been active in competing in various contests, including the BoDog Music Battle of the Bands in Boston. They are currently working on their next album Greatest Hits Volume 2

Their style is proclaimed as unique by both the fans and the members who call it "Old school delta blues, penetrated by monstrous guitar riffs, thunderous bass and drums, electrifying slide-guitar, gritty moonshine vocals, rockabilly/hellbilly grease, fronted by a rebel attitude..." This original formula they have called "dirtcore," thus creating a new metal genre. In addition to heavy metal, the band also claims influences from southern rock and psychobilly. After the release of Greatest Hits Volume 1, their vocalist "The Rev" left the band. They recruited a new singer by the name of Howlin' Jack Boone.
