Granville Butler

Granville Don Thomas (Forbes) Butler III was born in the city of Nassau on New Providence island in The Bahamas on June 14, 1986. He is the son of Granville Don Tyrone Butler Jr. and Lilith Sandra (Forbes) Butler. His interest in politics sparked at a very young age as he strive to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, Granville William Butler, who was a Senator and Commissioner of Currency (Central Bank Governor) under the new majority rule government.

He was given his introduction to politics when he was granted the opportunity to speak in House of Assembly in the annual Youth in Parliament session in 2003. He furthered his involvement in the progression of youth when he lobbied the government to send a Youth Representative to the United Nations. In October 2004, he was successful and became one of the youngest persons to ever address a sitting body, Social and Economic Committee (Third Committee), in the United Nations.

During his tenure he along with other Youth Representatives lobbied countries to include Youth Representatives in their delegation and was proven successful as the number of Youth Representatives in 2005 tripled. Granville is currently studying Business at Caldwell College college in Northern New Jersey, United States.
