Grant County is a county located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. As of 2000, the population is 5,144. Its county seat is Medford[1].

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,004 square miles (2,599 km²), of which, 1,001 square miles (2,591 km²) of it is land and 3 square miles (8 km²) of it (0.30%) is water.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 5,144 people, 2,089 households, and 1,456 families residing in the county. The population density was 5 people per square mile (2/km²). There were 2,622 housing units at an average density of 3 per square mile (1/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 95.31% White, 0.08% Black or African American, 2.45% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.70% from other races, and 1.30% from two or more races. 1.85% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 2,089 households out of which 30.70% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.40% were married couples living together, 6.30% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.30% were non-families. 28.40% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.80% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 2.95.

In the county, the population was spread out with 25.20% under the age of 18, 6.50% from 18 to 24, 24.10% from 25 to 44, 22.80% from 45 to 64, and 21.40% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 94.40 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.80 males.

The median income for a household in the county was $28,977, and the median income for a family was $35,833. Males had a median income of $26,837 versus $19,036 for females. The per capita income for the county was $15,709. About 10.50% of families and 13.70% of the population were below the poverty line, including 19.60% of those under age 18 and 11.90% of those age 65 or over.
