Granite Ventures is a private venture capital firm with offices in San Francisco California. It has backed such companies as Tumbleweed Communications, Plumtree Software, Sendmail, and Westbridge Technology.
The investment professionals are: Tom Furlong, Chris Hollenbeck, Sam Kingsland, Standish O'Grady, Len Rand, and Eric Zimits.
Granite is a spin out of Hambrecht & Quist, which was one of the leading technology oriented investment banks of the 1980s and 1990s.
Granite has had an unusual set of strategic partnerships with Adobe Systems, British Telecom, and Texas Instruments. In these partnerships Granite provided its expertise to help manage their corporate venture funds.
