Graničari stari (lit. Border guards of old) is a Croatian patriotic song. It deals with the defense of Croatia from the Ottoman Empire.

Odavno smo graničari stari.
Čuvali smo granicu na Savi.

Čuvali je sa starih čardaka.
I branili zemlju od Turaka.

Čuvali je stotine godina.
Branili je hrabro od tuđina.

I djedovi svoju krv su lili.
Da obrane naš zavičaj mili.

Long have we been the border guards of old.
We guarded the border on the Sava river.

We protected it with our old blockhouses.
And defended the land from the Turks.

We protected it for hundreds of years.
We defended it bravely from foreigners.

And our grandfathers poured their own blood.
To defend our dear native land.
