Judge Graciela Dixon is the current Chief Magistrate of the Supreme Court of Panama.
Supreme Court magistrates in Panama serve fixed 10-year terms and elect, from among its peers, the Chief Magistrate, who serves for one two-year term. Judge Dixon is nearing the end of her terms, both as Chief Magistrate and as a member of the Court. She has been nominated by Panama, under the Treaty of Rome or Rome Statute, to sit in the International Criminal Court in the Hague. This court judges a limited range of crimes, classified as crimes against humanity or war crimes, such as genocide and the crime of aggression. The election for that post will be in December 2007 among the treaty's signatory nations.
