Hello! So happy you have stopped by. I hope you will read and comment and move on with happiness and greater peace in your heart...
I am Dr. K.A. Morris-Swindell, MSW, D.A. I am a Social Worker and a Doctor of Counseling. I am also an artist, healer, spiritual coach and mystic, as well as a writer and speaker of truth. I am no longer physically practicing social work, having been "called" to "higher" duties. I have just joined Wikipedia. I was provoked to join due to a problem I saw with an article by the Noetic Institute. I added to their page in hopes of generating healthy debate on the issue of human spiritual evolution: a subject I am keenly aware of and work with daily.
I will be coming here from time to time to update my page, check on my contributions and to engage in communication for the benefit of all.
My parting comments: We are ALL evolving, growing, changing, healing, creating, resisting, loving, struggling, and so much more...and that is just what we should be doing. Time has created a culture that is difficult, persistent, oppressive, abusive, fast, creative and amazing; and this has "forced" us to evolve beyond our self concept in many ways. There have recently been sounds arising from advocates of the idea that this evolution is in the form of a new breed of human: homo noeticus. These advocates appear to be making an issue of the alleged difference between homo sapien and this new homo noeticus construction. I have heard it stated that the view is that homo sapiens are less aware, function only in the physical world according to what life hands them, and are not "enlightened," whatever that may be defined as. The idea is that homo noeticus is more "spiritually advanced" than homo sapien. What does this mean?
An analogy made by John White* (see ref below) stating that homo sapien and homo noeticus differences are like the similarity of physical structure between Neandertal man and Cro-Magnon man, which is actually incorrect, according to numerous physical anthropologists I have studies with. White's point is that there is no discernible physical difference between homo sapien and homo noeticus- that the difference is on a spiritual level and has to do with structure and/or usage of special abilities available to homo noeticus. As I read on, I began to become concerned. I had heard something similar from another source to which I had a similar reaction. Is this idea creating an us and we scenario? Is homo noeticus "saved," while homo sapien damned? Do you see what I am getting at here?
Human evolution has been co-opted by many "new age" speakers to mean growth toward something BETTER.
This is what has prompted my thoughts stated here on Wikpedia. There are differences in humans. This depends not necessarily on genetics but on experience and opportunities. This much is true: we have evolved, culturally, perhaps intellectually, certainly genetically. But these changes cannot be characterized as GOOD or not good. Evolution is change, only. It is Darwin's concept of genetic adaptation, that is all. How can it be applied in a spiritual sense?
From what I can tell so far, the idea of human spiritual evolution is indeed relating to human structure. However, the "structural" change is not physical. It is also not in our astral or causal or harmonic or "spiritual" bodies, whatever you may call these concepts. ALL HUMANS have bio-energetic substance associated with their physical bodies. All living organisms have the same, according to physicists. What the homo noeticus proponents are saying, I think, is that noeticus are "aware" of how to use this aspect of ourselves and sapiens are not. One might feel quite comfortable in the idea that those people we are most frustrated with are most likely sapiens and thus we are superior noeticus? 1950s Mississippi caucasians probably felt better with African Americans in the back of the bus, too.
Why am I bringing debate to this subject? Where do I stand on all of this? I will tell you: I believe, no, I KNOW that we have subtle energetic structures of some kind running down the core of our bodies, but on a level that is not readily seen with our physical eyes. We all have them, centers from top of head to perimeum, among numerous others placed throughout the body, that function rather like a capacitor/transformer/recorder all in one, gathering incoming data (energy) and making it available to our physical bodies and our minds. There are a number of schools of thought on this subject, a library full of books pronouncing ways to "activate" these centers, and more on "healing" these areas. What are we to think with so many options?
Here is what I think: we are all human with the same structures and energetic capabilities and needs. We are all a part of something so much more subtle than what we see, use and experience in the physical world. But we are ALL using these anyway. Awareness of this does not make us "evolved," it only makes us aware. Likewise, awareness of this does not mean we know how to use it! If, and that is a big if, some humans have discovered how to actually use their energetic structure, I hope they will come forth and educate us all. I hope they are not caught up in the idea of being better than any of us: enlightened?
In closing: I think that stating ideas regarding any type of power differential among theoretically lesser and greater humans is unhealthy for us all. I believe enlightenment is in the natural inner knowing that anyone we stand beside is part of us, part of everything, and if we can be of help on any level to them we should do so. Humanity is like a tree with trunk, branches, leaves and sometimes blooms and fruit. Is doesn't matter to the tree that it has different parts- it is a whole. And every part of that whole cares only that it receives nutrients and water to grow. It is my great hope that the human tree can become of the same focus.
We need a better term to describe what humans are going through! It cannot be "evolution." It must be defined as something else and truly taken out of the realm of scientific terminology. There is no homo noeticus. There is only we humans.
Peace love light happiness and health to us all! Dr. K.A. Morris-Swindell, MSW, D.A. 19:57, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
