[edit] Brief history of the college

Government Islamia College Sukkur is one of the biggest educational institute of upper Sindh, Pakistan. The College was established in 1956. The college was shifted to the new building in 1962 and was nationalized in 1956. The college was bifurcated into two indpendent and separate colleges having separate establishment, teaching and administrative staff, in 1973 as Govt: Islamia Science college Sukkur and Govt: Islamia Arts/Commerce College Sukkur. Government Islamia Science/Arts/Commerce College Sukkur consists of Intermediate, Degree Section and BS (CS), B.com, BA, MA programmes.

Situated in the heart of the city, building stands on prominent hill. Govt: Islamia Science College Sukkur and Govt: Islamia Arts/Commerce College Sukkur and Post Graduate Studies Centre Sukkur are housed in the same building. The Science college functions in the morning while the Arts/Commerce college serves in the evening. The college building stands on Minara Road, just at cross Section of New Sukkur and Old Sukkur. There is PAF Selection and Recruitment Centre and Masoom Shah Library just in front of the main entrance. While the D.C Office is also at a little distance. The building of A.D.B.P and State Life insurance Corporation is also on two minutes walk. At the back side, there is shrine of Hazrat Cheel Badshah Alias Naughaza Pir, While the Session Court and College Principal of Education Sukkur, are also on the same side.

The building of Islamia Science College Sukkur possesses ground floor with six Laboratories, two each for Chemistry and Physics and one each for Zoology and Botany. The staff common room is adjacent to the Chemistry Laboratory on first floor. And on the second floor the combined classes are held. The office of the principal and Ministrial staff are on the left side of the building. Auditorium and Gymnasium Halls are on the ground floor. There is beautiful mosque in the college premises. The Library is adjacent to newly constructed Commerce Block.
