[edit] From IvyMedia.com to GotoBus.com
IvyMedia Corporation is known as the leading company on the Internet to offer a centralized booking tool that allows bus travelers to search and compare different bus companies. GotoBus sells bus tickets for many traditional bus companies as well as regional independent carriers, and so-called Chinatown bus lines. The company first started selling bus tickets in 2000 from the website IvyMedia.com. They switched to the GotoBus.com domain at the end of 2005 in order to better represent the nature of the business.
[edit] Best of the Web
GotoBus became the first potential competitor for Greyhound Lines, which has almost a monopoly position for the US/Canada shuttle bus business. GotoBus has networked most small bus operators such as Chinatown bus to provide a comprehensive bus services covering major cities in the US while expanding to Canada. This competition has greatly benefited consumers in getting competitive bus fares.
In February 2007, The Washington Post names GotoBus.com Best of the Web in the 'Motorcoaches' category, topping grayline.com, greyhound.com and trailways.com.
