[edit] Forth and Ms. Gorf

I disagree that the reason why Ms Gorth can't be compiled is because FORTH is obscure. Versions of FORTH exist for all architectures including the most modern. It's no more "obscure" than C. If it really can't be compiled, then something is wrong with the code. --- Jonathan Badger [jhbadger] Dec 12 2006

I dug up the reference for that statement, and it doesn't say anything about it not being compilable. It's just on 8" disks, which make it hard to retreive (when was the last time you saw even a 5¼" drive??). So I removed the statement that it can't be compiled. It can't be compiled because it can't be retreived (so, the sentence was technically true, but very misleading).
I do agree that FORTH is obscure, however. Though versions do exist for most modern operating systems, it's not incredibly widely used (it doesn't even approach the use of C or C++). Versions of Fortran also exist for modern operating systems, but that doesn't make it a modern programming language. Also, that sourced reference also says it's obscure, so it could be argued that the paragraph is just expressing what the source says.

[edit] How to sign your posts

The correct way to sign your posts is with four tildes (~~~~); it's also easier than typing your name and the time. :-) — Frecklefoot | Talk 16:55, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
IP: Stop removing other people's Talk replies, or you will be blocked. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 19:40, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

The post signing comment is off topic. I won't edit it anymore, but lets stay on GORF topic. IP. 207.71.0.35 20:36, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Frecklefoot was only trying to help. It's not really that off-topic, since he's just mentioning how to sign your posts - it would apply on any Talk page across WP. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 20:17, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

He could of done it directly without posting it here. Its still off topic. As a matter of fact what I'm typing right now is off topic too. Thanks. 207.71.0.35 20:36, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Two things: You're not logged in, and your IP might change. We have no way of knowing whether a message sent to your IP's talk page might actually get to you. (I realize that the original comment was made in response to an apparently logged-in user, but this applies to you as well since you haven't been signing your posts.) Second, Frecklefoot's comment is helpful to potentially many editors who might not be aware of Talk page policies and procedures, regardless of where on WP the comment was left. So yes, it's not on the topic of Gorf, but it's helpful info nonetheless. No sense in making a big deal out of it. However, removing other people's comments from Talk pages is a direct violation of WP policy - hence the warning. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 20:24, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes I just read the WP policy. Please don't edit my comments either then. Thank you. 207.71.0.35 20:38, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

It is common practice to add the {{unsigned}} macro to unsigned comments. ("IP" is not a signature - it helps everyone to know what the actual IP is of the person leaving the comment, so we don't have to go back through the Talk history to figure out who said what.) Please consider adding ~~~~ to your comments - otherwise, editors will continue to put the unsigned tags there. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 20:32, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Another first: Multi-mission game

AFAIK, Gorf was the first multi-mission game, but the article does not list this among its firsts. Was there another before it? ProhibitOnions (T) 15:23, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't know. What other video games use various missions? — Frecklefoot | Talk 16:55, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ports

This game was also ported to the BBC and Acorn Electron, the Galaxian mission was present on them as well

[edit] Frog spelt backwards

Does it need to be included that Gorf is frog spelt backwards? I'm going to delete it.Pengwiin 11:49, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I could destroy the flagship in two shots

One to broach the field the second to hit a very small bit of the flagship boss. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.30.182 (talk) 06:04, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
