Goodnight Jim Bob is the first of Jim Bob's post-Carter USM albums to be released under the name Jim Bob. Musically, it's a more mature and fully realized rock album than its disco-tinged predecessors. Its lyrics take on such grim topics as domestic abuse, heroin, war and coping with death.
