It should be noted that Golden was the headquarters of the KKK in Colorado from some time, starting in the spring 1922 and slowly pettering out. There was a very famous cross burning on South Table Mountain on September 27th 1923 (see http://photoswest.org/photos/11001751/11001874.jpg). Coors Brewing and the Coors family, as much as they may like downplay it, was very envolved in the clan during it's initial formation. I'm unfortunatly (or fortunatly) not living in Golden anymore, otherwise I would get more details from the historical museum there. If anyone is interested in updating this article, that would be the place to go.

The last time I am aware of that someone (an independent documentary filmmaker) tried to link the Coors family with the KKK, the Coors family successfully sued that person for slander, and won a monetary judgement. The Coors family maintained in court that: 1) no member of the Coors family has ever belonged to the KKK, and 2) the property on South Table Mountain on which the cross-burning took place had never belonged to the Coors family.
