Capital Gold is quite a big brand in the UK but this is quite a small stub. Perhaps someone with a gretaer knowledge of CG could expand this?Anon Dude 15:39, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Frequency removal?
Is there any proof that the IBA threatened removal of Capital Gold's AM frequency as mentioned early on in the article? RJL 22:10, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
All ILR stations were required to end simulcasting as required by the Home Office in 1986, in this case Capital Radio were to stop relaying its main 95.8 FM programmes onto AM. The IBA were essentially an arm of the Government. Capital Radio became Capital FM on 95.8FM and Capital Gold on 1548 AM. Neasden Villa 17:49, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Too much pre 1986 stuff

[edit] Errors in article
This article needs to be thoroughly checked. Although I am not an expert, I can see that there are factual errors in the text. For example, Cash & Everett only did breakfast for a short time and were replaced by Graham Dene. (David Symonds, who is mentioned as a 1980s presenter, was the original breakfast presenter.) Joan Shenton and Tommy Vance did mid-mornings, never drivetime. The station never had to reduce its hours to save costs: that was what happened to LBC (although it did go off the air overnight for a very brief period due to a presenter being on holiday, and related union issues). Brian Hayes did not work for Capital in the 1980s. Kenny Everett did make a remark about the then Minister of Transport's wife, and was dismissed from the BBC because of it, but that was in 1970: he worked in radio for Capital until about 1982, then for the BBC, and then back to Capital again for Capital Gold. (He died in 1995, for goodness' sake, not 1994.) David Jensen joined Capital Radio in 1984, initially presenting mid-mornings, then later drivetime. He did not join Capital Gold at its beginning, continuing on FM, and later moved to Heart 106.2: he joined Capital Gold later. And the popularity of Capital Gold in its later years is debatable: its last RAJAR in London gave it its lowest audience reach ever. 86.149.102.100 08:36, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

There's an awful lot about the ex-Capital Gold side of things here and very little about the ex-Classic Gold side. Does anyone with a bit of time feel like combining this page with the Classic Gold Digital Network page to create a fuller picture of how the network came to be? Or perhaps there should be a Capital Gold article, a Classic Gold Digital Network article, and the Gold article should start with 2007 as 'Year Zero'. 90.203.10.75 21:13, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
