The Goldfields Giants are a semi-professional basketball team who compete in the State Basketball League of Western Australia (SBL). The Giants are based in the West Australian regional city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, and their home court is the 1200-capacity Neils Hansen Stadium.
Since debuting in the League in 1990, the Giants have reached four SBL Grand Finals culminating in their first SBL Championship in 2007. Previously they were runners-up in 1995, 2004 and 2006.
The 2007 SBL season saw 13 teams compete in the League, while a 14th team, the Kalamunda Eastern Suns, will make their debut in 2008. The League season begins in March and finishes in September. The Giants are one of four clubs from West Australian regional cities (along with the Bunbury Slammers, Geraldton Buccaneers and Mandurah Magic) while ten teams are based within the Perth metropolitan area.
