Written and performed by die hard Chicago Cubs baseball fan Steve Goodman, Go Cubs Go!, was written in 1984 during the heat of that years playoff race. Goodman passed away shortly before the 1984 Cubs clinched their playoff spot. Until as recent as the playoff run of 2007, the song had remained unpopular. However, roughly midway through the 2007 season the song was played following every Cubs home victory. This trend has continued into the 2008 season where it is often seen along with the three Cubs outfielders(Soriano, Johnson/Pie/Edmonds, and Fukudome) celebrating the victory by body bumping. Also, the song is sung by countless Cubs faithful at both Wrigley Field and other locations following each Cubs victory.
