Some of the pages in Wikipedia are very esoteric, while some go unexpanded (even some of the most broad subjects). Why is this?

[edit] Why Esoteric?
Esoteric (approximately) means "known by a relative few people." This tends to describe some of these pages:
- List of Primary Schools in Waltham Forest
- List of Rivers of the Republic of Macedonia
- Alun Woodward
- Every single "YEAR in archaeology", which starts out "YEAR in archaelogy involved some significant events."
- Bagus Setiadi
- Barham, Suffolk
Even because of this, some articles are left unexpanded, or uncreated:
- Posey straitjacket
- Lo as in an abbreviation for Low on some HVAC devices.
- The DOS commands assoc and net.
- Bimp, an emerging mispronunciation (in pop-culture) of the word Pimp.
- Anything you'd like to contribute? It's a lot easier to complain about it here than to fix it.
[edit] What's the problem?
Wikipedia was meant to be an open-source encyclopedia that anyone can get on and research from. If the only entries in certain sections are pop-culture, completely irrelevent, or just plain unlikely to be looked up, what will the not average reasercher say when (s)he goes to look up the net command? Or perhaps find out exactly what a Posey is?
[edit] What's the solution
The solution is a problem within itself. I'm not exactly a driving force behind the mass of hundreds of thousands of people that come every day to Wikipedia and contribute to it, but I hope to give some influence to anyone who visits here. Once again, I shouldn't be complaining about something it is completely out of reach of my abilities to fix, but collaboratively, I hope to see those red links above turn blue within hours after this page is created. And anyone can help.
Make a difference. Don't be afraid to add the page or expand the section. If you know it, say it. Even if you aren't sure, say it anyway. Ignore all rules, be bold, and enjoy Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia.
