Global Leadership Adventures

Global Leadership Adventures (GLA) operates high school study abroad and community service programs in Brazil, Costa Rica, Ghana, India and South Africa. The programs are open to students from all over the world and run during the summer, lasting for 3 weeks.

GLA was originally part of the African Leadership Academy, based in Johannesburg, South Africa but became a separate entity in 2004. The organization is currently based in San Diego, USA.

In 2005, GLA hosted Archbishop Desmond Tutu in South Africa to speak about the legacy of Apartheid. In 2007, GLA students met with Costa Rican president and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Oscar Arias to discuss the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) which was to be voted upon in a national referendum in Costa Rica.

GLA has been mentioned in the New York Times and the Boston Globe and many other newspapers and has a growing alumni base. GLA alumni come from over 50 different countries.
