General Cockpit Details
In the center of the picture is the control column ("stick") which is used to maneuver the glider. It also contains a small trim adjustment lever (green). On the top of the control column is a button which turns on (or "keys") the transmitter in the aviation radio.
The blue lever is to deploy the airbrakes or spoilers located on top, and/or bottom, of the wings. Below it (but not visible) is the lever to raise/lower the undercarriage. The yellow knob releases the tow cable when sufficient altitude is gained after launch. The black knob with white dot (right of the radio) adjusts the rudder pedals (depending on the height of the pilot).
At the top of the picture on the outside of the canopy is a red piece of wool yarn that is used as a yaw indicator. This is a very simple device which indicates when the sailplane is in the most efficient "coordinated flight". Optimally, this so called "yaw string" should be flowing straight back towards the pilot.
